Seizing the opportunity to continue the cynical commentary we have grown accustomed to seeing written on the pages of the Augusta Chronicle their owner recently put himself forth as nothing less than the image of the man who would be king of Augusta. The best part is that not only does he believe he is king but he demonstrates all the attributes of a feudal lord including extending his kingdom not only here among his humble City subjects of Augusta but well beyond. How else could he have been awarded almost all of the bidding contracts for public municipal projects and lastly the privilege of managing and profiting from the work in progress his crowning glory known as the TEE Center? A July 28 Chronicle editorial referred to the government’s moral obligation to stop Mexican “illegals” from entering the United States. I would say that the Chronicle has a moral obligation to inform itself better prior to publishing such ignorance. As if all “illegals”are Mexicans. It would also be interesting if one day those in the know at King William’s daily would wise up and stop accusing President Barak Obama’s administration of being weak on immigration. FYI Mr.Morris lll , in the past two years Obama has increased the raids, detentions and deportations of immigrants and has implemented programs persecuting undocumented immigrants like never before. In spite of the fact that Latinos gave Obama 67% of the vote he has done little to reward them. The appointment of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court was merely a gesture that pacified some but didn’t go far enough. Of course, when one believes he is a king the opinion of the peasants means very little. The king and all that the myth that he puts forth as truth appears real. It goes without saying that if Morris said the earth is square the Augusta Chronicle would publish it. For Morris, the opportunist, it doesn’t matter that he has launched a crusade in full regalia with his sword and shield against immigrants, especially Mexicans, and anyone else who wasn’t born in Augusta, Ga. or the United States of America. And so it is even now when he has begun to publish a type of Hispanic publication, Morris has no limit to his mean spirited nature. He accuses “illegal” Mexicans that have crossed the border ( as if they are the only ones) and of being the worst problem in the United States. And then he quietly puts out a paper that worships Latinos and on top of that accuses Republicans of being responsible for not producing immigration reform? Someone told me that Morris is a businessman first and that the almighty dollar is all that matters to him. He hopes that the Mexicans whom he squashed with his rhetoric and insults in the Augusta Chronicle will pay the bill for Eco Latino. The language we all understand is the power of money and how it can change lives. In the end, Morality is only a marketing tool for some newspapers and their owners. |
