Night Star

The fifth installment of Alyson Noel's Evermore: the immortals series could not have been better written. It was extremely captivating and exciting from the moment I opened the book. Having read the past four installments to the series, I was not certain the new book was going to meet my expectations. Don't get me wrong, the earlier novels were also enchanting but I was wary and thought the fifth book was not going to bring the same appeal as the previous ones did. However it did! It managed to keep me desperate for more. Though I admit that in the beginning of the series I would get infuriated with how insecure and negative the main character, Ever, seemed to be. It was quite annoying actually, but it did not deter the fact that the story line remained brilliant through each book especially because she changed her outlook along her journey. I feared the fifth book would reveal the same old Ever who refused to trust the obvious love of her life, Damen, because of her all consuming self doubt. But she finally realizes what has been in front of her all this time in Night Star and blooms as some may say. That allowed us to really connect to her in this latest book and hope that the discoveries she makes about her past will help her make the correct one in her present. Ultimately she ends up making the right decision in my opinion and that will help her overcome the rest that is to come. This novel offers a new sense of adventure combined with suspense, love, and bitter rivalry. The series is a great read for those looking for a story to fall into that is different from the ordinary.

Series Info: first four installments: Evermore, Blue Moon, Shadowland, Dark Flame.
Next upcoming part: Everlasting-coming in summer of 2011
