There are truly no words that will justly describe how brilliant Cassandra Clare’s Clockwork Prince truly is; it was hands down the best novel to end the reading list for 2011. This volume in the Infernal Devices Series is utterly mesmerizing, I am happy to say that she outdid herself once again. It is an irreplaceable feeling to read the next book in a great series, each time getting more impressed with new grandeur and riveting plots that turn good writing into exceptional writing. Clare has an admirable quality to her writing that transcends any notion of it being ordinary. Indeed, it is extraordinary in the ability she has of pulling her readers inside the world of Shadowhunters who live to protect human kind from demons that roam the Earth. The original story of the Shadowhunters begin in modern times with The Immortal Instruments Series: City of Bones, however Clare takes us back to the very beginning with The Infernal Devices. This Series is a Prequel to the Immortal Instruments, and takes place in 19th Century London. In book one: Clockwork Angel, we are introduced to the lead heroine, Tessa Gray. She leaves America in hopes of finding a mundane life with her brother Nathaniel in the city of London, instead she is sucked into the world of Demons and Downworlders who want to use her for special abilities that she had no prior knowledge of. She is then saved by no other than the beautifully cruel Shadowhunter, Will Herdondale. Tessa promtly joins forces with the Nephilim in attempts to find and capture the evil Mortmain that means to launch a full out war and destroy the Shadowhunters with his clockwork army and relentlessly wantsTessa as his wife. Book Two continues with a mind blowing plot that reveals so many secrets and explications that connect with the Immortal Instruments Series as well! This volume helps us understand Will’s cryptic past and takes us through both fiery and heartbreaking romances. Just when you think these novels cannot get any better, they consume your mind with a fire burning for more of the amazing characters and action. I highly recommend these novels, they will be sure to keep readers on the edge of their feet wanting to know more!
